Apple finds itself dealing with the recent announcement that the most anticipated features for Siri related to Apple Intelligence have been postponed indefinitely. Over the weekend, the company removed a YouTube advertisement highlighting personal context functionalities on the iPhone 16.
Additionally, Apple has revised its website to add a new disclaimer wherever the delayed Siri features are referenced on their iPhone marketing pages.
The delayed Siri features were designed to help users easily retrieve information from interactions with friends and family—such as flight numbers or book recommendations—scanning across applications like Messages, Mail, and others. The on-screen capabilities would also enable users to perform actions relevant to the current app; for instance, asking Siri to “edit this image to enhance its appeal” when viewing a photo in the Photos app.
Following speculation regarding developmental challenges, Apple officially confirmed that the features were postponed via a press release issued last Friday. The statement indicated, “We need more time than initially expected to deliver these features, and we plan to roll them out in the upcoming year.”
The newly posted message on Apple’s website, while still vague, differs slightly: it states:
Development of Siri’s personal context understanding, on-screen awareness, and in-app functionality is underway and will be introduced in a future software update.
Below is a screenshot showcasing the newly added message on the iPhone 16e product page:
The same disclaimer appears across product pages for the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, iPad, and more—essentially wherever these features had been advertised without any indication of their unreleased status.
Although Apple has not provided a more precise timeline, it is expected that the “future software update” will take the form of iOS 19. The inaugural developer beta of iOS 19 is set to debut this summer during WWDC in June. However, the release of a future update for iOS 19 could occur anytime between fall 2025 and summer 2026, so patience may be required.
