In a recent interview, Apple executives have provided clarity on the timeline for Siri’s anticipated AI enhancements, confirming that the release will take place in 2026. Here are the key details.
Joz verifies Siri’s 2026 launch date in new interview
Initially, when Apple postponed the new features for Siri that were slated for iOS 18, the company announced a rather ambiguous timeline.
They mentioned regarding the Siri upgrades: “we expect to roll them out in the upcoming year.”
This announcement came in March, leaving many to question: did this signify a release before the end of 2025? Or perhaps the next 12 months?
During the WWDC keynote, Apple reiterated this vague language, with Craig Federighi hinting at a “more personal” update to Siri by stating: “We look forward to sharing more about it in the coming year.”
However, in a new conversation with Craig Federighi and Greg “Joz” Joswiak, Tom’s Guide’s Mark Spoonauer pressed Apple for a clearer timeline.
Spoonauer inquired twice if it was acceptable to state ‘2026’ for the expected release of Siri’s delayed upgrades.
After the first question, Federighi gave a detailed explanation of the circumstances surrounding the delays but didn’t directly answer the query.
Reiterating the question, Joz provided a straightforward response.
Spoonauer: So, rather than a specific release date, is it accurate to say 2026?
Joz: Absolutely, that’s what we’ve indicated, yes.
Notably, Federighi glanced at Joz following the question, suggesting he was letting Apple’s marketing head take the lead on the answer.
Unless this was an accidental disclosure, it appears any hopes for Siri’s new features making their way into iOS 26, 26.1, or even 26.2 should be abandoned.
A spring release, around iOS 26.4, now seems more plausible.
