This week, Apple introduced iOS 26 along with the initial developer beta. They’ve now provided beta testers with an updated build for specific iPhone models.
iOS 26 beta 1 receives an updated build shortly post-release
In a surprising decision for a significant new OS version, Apple has released two beta builds within the first week of launch.
The latest software is not technically developer beta 2, but a revised edition of iOS 26 beta 1.
The earlier version of iOS 26 beta 1 was identified as 23A5260n.
The newly available build is labeled 23A5260u—a minor adjustment.
Given the similarity in version numbers, it is believed that this updated build does not include any changes that users will notice.
It’s likely that Apple found a significant bug, a security vulnerability, or perhaps some code pertaining to unreleased products, prompting the need for a new build.
This version is exclusively available for iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 models, meaning that those with older iPhone versions will not see any new updates.
We will keep you updated on any changes that become apparent in the new iOS 26 beta.
If you haven’t yet tried the iOS 26 beta and are contemplating whether to do so, my colleague Ben has some suggestions for you.
