Apple TV+ Faces Challenges with Teens Despite iPhone’s Dominance

Recently, Apple TV+ has been gaining more mainstream popularity, thanks to successful series like Severance and The Studio. However, a recent survey indicates that there is one group that remains largely uninterested in Apple TV+: teenagers.

Survey Reveals Only 1% of US Teens Regularly Watch Apple TV+

Piper Sandler released its 49th semi-annual survey today, focusing on various topics relevant to teens in the United States.

More than 6,000 teens participated, sharing their preferences and habits related to technology, entertainment, food, fashion, and more.

As expected, iPhone usage remains remarkably high among US teens, with a staggering 88% currently owning an iPhone.

However, what’s surprising is the incredibly low interest in Apple TV+ among this demographic.

Just 1% of teens reported that Apple TV+ is a regular part of their daily viewing habits.

In comparison, Netflix enjoys a viewership of 31%, while YouTube attracts 26% of teens.

While daily viewership sets a high standard, the 1% figure still appears remarkably low, especially given the prevalence of iPhone ownership.

Since the inception of Apple TV+, industry analysts (including Netflix’s CEO) have questioned Apple’s motivation for entering the streaming market. Could it be a strategic move to enhance iPhone loyalty?

Although the answer remains elusive, it appears that for teens, owning an iPhone and watching Apple TV+ show virtually no correlation.
