Apple is ramping up its promotional efforts for the upcoming F1 movie, set to hit theaters in the US on June 27. A new trailer, dubbed a “haptic trailer,” has been released in the TV app. This innovative feature means your phone vibrates in harmony with the video while you watch.
With F1, this allows you to physically experience the roar of the car’s engine as Brad Pitt speeds around the track. Here’s how it all works …
To experience the haptic trailer, you’ll need an iPhone running iOS 18.4 or later. Open the TV app and go to the TV+ tab. Look for a featured banner for the haptic trailer. If it’s not visible, simply search for F1: The Movie within the app, and you’ll find the haptic trailer banner in the details.
This trailer showcases the remarkable precision and detail of the Taptic Engine found in modern iPhones. The vibrations perfectly correspond with the on-screen action. As the engine revs, you can physically feel the buildup in your hands. At one moment, Sonny (played by Brad Pitt) bounces a ball on his ping pong racket, with each bounce accompanied by a distinct haptic effect.
While watching an entire film this way might not be practical, it certainly creates a captivating and unique trailer experience.
F1: The Movie is scheduled to premiere internationally on June 25, and in the US on June 27. The film will initially be available exclusively in theaters before it transitions to Apple TV+ for streaming.
