Since autumn of last year, Apple has been promoting the iPhone 16 alongside an unreleased Siri feature. However, after confirming that the more personalized version of Siri won’t be available anytime soon, the company has removed the related advertisement.
The commercial featured Bella Ramsey, who deserves credit for convincingly portraying a functional Siri.
In the advertisement, Ramsey approaches someone familiar and inquires about the name of the person they had met with the previous month at a certain restaurant, asking Siri for assistance.
Siri promptly provides the name, presumably drawing from a calendar entry, email, or message stored on Ramsey’s iPhone.
Today, Apple revealed that the development of features enabling Siri to respond to inquiries based on on-device information is taking longer than anticipated.
This advertisement was part of a three-ad series, which also included two others focused on email summarization and personalized photo memory videos. The latter two will continue to run, but the ad featuring the unreleased functionality from September has been set to private on YouTube.
