Apple is currently focused on maximizing its revenue from AppleCare+ insurance plans. Alongside the discontinuation of most upfront payment options, the company is raising the subscription fees for AppleCare+ across all iPhone models.
As of now, the only way to acquire AppleCare+ with a traditional upfront payment is by purchasing the device directly from Apple’s online store.
Devices bought at Apple retail locations no longer provide this choice. The option for upfront payments is not available from the device itself anymore.
Additionally, Apple has raised the monthly subscription fees for AppleCare+ for every iPhone model.
According to MacRumors, the new monthly cost for AppleCare+ in the United States is now $0.50 higher.
This price hike applies to both standard plans and those covering Theft and Loss, while subscriptions for other devices remain unaffected for the time being.
In Apple’s terms, this increase is roughly half the amount for a 50GB iCloud storage plan, which costs $0.99 monthly. Apple appreciates your extra $0.50 and will be able to sustain its business for another year because of it.
