Binance has collaborated with a bunch of law enforcement agencies and has launched a campaign that would prevent crypto scams by issuing alerts that are targeted to the victims that could be prey for these scams, as reported by a March 3 blog post from the company.

The project has been called the Joint Anti Scam Campaign and was initially rolled out in Hong Kong, and now the transaction company wants to see it getting envisioned everywhere else. According to the official post by the company, they have partnered with the law enforcement agency in the country- the Hong Kong Police’s Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau to create an alarm and crime prevention message which was directly aimed at the residents in the country.

Binance’s Alert Message Has Worked Beautifully in Hong Kong

As a major part of Binance’s project, when the users tried withdrawing the sum of money, they were issued multiple warning messages that provided them with information about tips on how to get rid of common scams that one could get affected by. Over a month, the company then carefully scrutinized the responses of the public. It was discovered that close to 20% of the public who received the message decided to not withdraw the money, as well as investigate further into the message.

The warning from Binance also provided statistics into the number of scams that had taken place in Hong Kong in 2001, whilst recommending several resources such as Scameter, the Anti Deception Coordination Center, Binance Verify, and Cyber Defender. It also informed the users that Binance will never contact them directly. The company considers this pilot quite successful and it plans to collaborate with other jurisdictions.
