Apple TV+ has been focusing on releasing films directly to streaming recently, but this summer, the company is rolling out a high-budget blockbuster in theaters: F1. The official trailer has just been released.
F1 trailer unveils the storyline of Apple’s summer blockbuster
Following the successful premieres of Apple TV+ films like The Gorge and Wolfs, Apple continues to make significant theatrical investments in certain projects.
This year, F1 is that project.
Featuring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski (known for Top Gun: Maverick), F1 has the potential to be a summer hit—or at least, that’s what Apple is banking on.
While we have seen a teaser and even a commercial during the Super Bowl, now that F1’s release date of June 27 is fast approaching, Apple has unveiled the first full-length trailer.
You can watch the trailer below:
Additionally, Apple has provided a summary of the film:
Known as “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was Formula 1®’s brightest talent in the 1990s until a track accident almost derailed his career. Thirty years later, he’s a wandering racer-for-hire when his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), the owner of a failing F1® team, reaches out. Ruben persuades Sonny to return to Formula 1® for a final chance to save the team and reclaim his status among the best. He will share the track with rookie sensation Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), who is eager to prove himself. However, as the race begins, Sonny’s past resurfaces, revealing that in F1®, a teammate can quickly turn into a rival, and the journey to redemption cannot be undertaken alone.
After its theatrical debut, it is anticipated that F1 will be available on Apple TV+ later this year.
There have been speculations regarding Apple seeking streaming rights for Formula 1, but as of now, no developments have occurred. We may hear more as F1’s promotional campaign kicks off.
