China Airlines Introduces AirTag Lost Baggage Feature

The feature that allows AirTag users to share the location of their luggage with airlines has officially launched in China.

China Airlines has declared its support for this feature, following its rollout by major carriers such as Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines earlier this year.

AirTag Lost Baggage Feature

Previously, you could share the location of your AirTag with friends and family, but a software update in November last year enabled you to create a link that you can share with anyone.

This is particularly useful for informing airlines when your luggage is lost. Travelers have often faced discrepancies where the airline claims their bag is located elsewhere, while they can track it to a different location.

Initially, Apple named 17 airlines that expressed interest in adopting this feature and integrating the links with their baggage-tracking systems.

In the upcoming months, over 15 airlines catering to millions around the world—such as Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling—will begin incorporating Find My item locations into their customer service processes for tracking misplaced or delayed luggage.

The launch of this feature has been ongoing since February when Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines introduced their support.

Launch of China Airlines

Apple indicated that its rollout would eventually include airlines not mentioned in the original press release, and Liberty Times reports that China Airlines is the latest to embrace this useful feature.

China Airlines has partnered with Apple to incorporate the airline’s baggage system with AirTag functionality, resulting in the launch of the […] Apple AirTag Luggage Tracking Application to help quickly locate lost luggage.

The airline states that this is part of a series of digital enhancements it has recently introduced.
