Dan Aykroyd and his better half of almost forty years Donna Dixon have genially separated, the couple declared on Friday.

Dan Aykroyd, 69, and Dixon remain lawfully wedded and keep a “cherishing companionship,” the pair said.

“Following 39 years as a team, we are presently on independent lifeways. We remain lawfully wedded, co-guardians, associates, and colleagues,” the pair told Individuals Magazine in a joint proclamation. “This is our decision in adoring kinship.”

Aykroyd and Dixon, 64, got hitched in 1983 soon after gathering on the arrangement of the parody “Specialist Detroit” that very year. Aykroyd had recently been momentarily drawn into the late Carrie Fisher.

The couple featured in a few movies together including “Strange place: The Film” (1983), “Spies Like Us” (1985), “The Sofa Outing” (1988), and “Exit to Eden” (1994). Aykroyd and Dixon have three developed girls together — Danielle (a vocalist lyricist who goes by Vera Sola), 32; Beauty, 28; and Stella, 24.

The Ghostbuster had recently focused on his relationship with Dixon in a 2014 meeting with The Tampa Narrows Times. “You need to track down the perfect individual — look at them without flinching, have them think back, and know their spirit,” Aykroyd said. “She’s a Southern lady who is understanding and wouldn’t fret managing the young men every once in a while.”
