Oculus Quest 2

It is time to bring out the new Oculus Quest 2- which will slowly be replacing the previous Oculus Quest. The unveiling of this product has cemented Facebook’s position on bringing out VR devices that will work without a PC- a series of standalone Oculus Headsets. Although there have been reports of further Oculus Quests that would allow you to experience even higher graphics after connecting them with a gaming computer- as far as the Oculus Quest 2 is concerned, it is pretty much the end of the road.

The device is packed to perfection. With a price of $299, it is just about affordable for most. Everything is packed inside a single box, and there are enough games that would last for quite some time. To put it simply, it might just draw a whole crowd of people to experience VR gaming. But the question still stands- does the Oculus Quest 2 pack enough punch to make it in the virtual reality mainstream?

OCULUS QUEST 2 REVIEW: PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Oculus Quest 2

You can preorder the Oculus Quest 2- the price ranges are divided into $299, and $399- the $299 for the 64 Gb version, whereas the $399 for the 256 Gb version. It all depends on how many games you want to begin with. Along with the device, you can also avail of extra accessories that will be available with the Oculus Quest 2. You can buy a premium head strap- or alternative face brackets- in the event that the device is too big for your face.

OCULUS QUEST 2 REVIEW: DESIGN AND SPECS

The Oculus Quest 2 is quite solidly built- yet it feels a bit out of place with all the plastic. But you need to remember that it is pretty much a  bargain at this price. It has a weight of 500 odd grams, so it wouldn’t feel too bulky on your face- protecting your neck from slouching too much. The straps are pretty tight, so they can fit around your head in a perfect lock. There are several clips all around, so you wouldn’t have to worry about it not fitting your face. Also, there is also a space provided which would allow you to put in your glasses. The Oculus Quest 2 contains a Snapdragon XR2 Chipset, 64-256 Gb of storage- and 6 GB of RAM- a pretty sturdy build. The device comes armed with 1832×1920 pixels of virtual reality for every eye. You will also be provided with a headphone jack– if you want some privacy around.

You will have a gala time running your games on the Oculus Quest 2. The graphics are commendable, with the integrated audio pretty clear. Most of the games would run without any discrepancy or stutter. The Touch sensors have been highly updated- and there are talks of hand tracking updates- we don’t know if it has been done yet or not. Remember, you might feel a bit nauseous the first few times- for human bodies aren’t completely compatible with Virtual Reality. It is not the fault of the Oculus Quest 2- it is just who we are.

OCULUS QUEST 2 REVIEW: OTHER FEATURES AND BATTERY LIFE

There have been no complaints about the Oculus Quest 2. Most of the apps and games are extremely simple- with you also receiving options for ‘home settings’. There are tutorials present that will help you out. Some of the games are multiplayer- so you can connect to the web and play online. Remember, there is also a headphone jack that will allow you to communicate within the game- so use it well. As far as battery life goes, you should be able to use the Oculus Quest 2 for around 3 hours after fully charging it- not a bad bargain, we would say.

OCULUS QUEST 2 REVIEW: PRICE AND VERDICT

The Oculus Quest 2 has managed to impress most of us with its design and price. Since the price has dropped, it is pretty easy for most of us to get hold of an Oculus Quest 2 and start gaming in virtual reality.

There are obviously a few issues- most of the VR headphones are extremely expensive and should be kept for those who seriously want to game. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement in the games. And continued usages of VR can keep making you queasy. Yet, the Oculus Quest 2 will definitely bring about a new change in the horizon- and you would be wise to invest in one.
