Dropbox has finally introduced a feature that many users have likely been anticipating for a long time: support for Live Photos within its iPhone and iPad application.
Live Photos Now Supported in the Latest Dropbox App Update
The new update for the Dropbox app on iOS, version 416.2, includes the following release notes:
- Users can now view and upload Live Photos directly in the app.
- Enhanced PDF editing features have been implemented, including options for drawing and highlighting.
I had to take a moment to absorb that first item.
Since its launch a decade ago with the iPhone 6s, Live Photos now benefits from complete integration within the Dropbox app.
Much like Apple’s Photos app, the new Dropbox integration allows users to long-press a Live Photo to experience its motion effect.
Additionally, the app provides options to edit your Live Photos.
According to the latest support documentation from Dropbox:
- To save a Live Photo as a still image, select Live on under “Image preferences” and choose Still image. To revert to Live Photo, select Live off and choose Live photo.
- If your Live Photo is in HEIC format, you can convert it to JPG by tapping Save as JPG under “Image preferences.”
For dedicated Dropbox users, the support for Live Photos might be considered a delayed yet welcome addition.
We might wonder why it took this long, but the important thing is that it’s finally here.
