HOUSTON, Texas – This information may not apply to you if you received your stimulus check during the pandemic, but if you haven’t, it’s worth your attention.
The IRS has announced that it will distribute special payments in April to 1 million taxpayers who did not claim the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit.
Although the majority of taxpayers received their stimulus checks, some individuals missed out and now have the chance to receive a payout of $1,400.
These payments are part of the IRS’s initiative to ensure that eligible individuals receive the Recovery Rebate Credit funds they deserve.
The IRS is urging non-filers to act promptly before the looming deadline to claim these credits.
The Recovery Rebate Credit was established to provide financial relief to taxpayers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was available for individuals who had not received the total amount of the Economic Impact Payments distributed in 2020 and 2021. Taxpayers can claim this credit on their 2021 tax returns, which may lead to a refund if they qualify.
The IRS is strongly advising those who have yet to file their tax returns to do so without delay. The filing deadline is approaching, and taxpayers who fail to meet it might miss the chance to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit and other tax benefits.
