Tesla’s latest technological advances will be revealed on Tesla Battery Day. At the same time, Elon Musk told his followers to watch out for big surprises during the event.
Tesla Battery Day will be held on 22nd September. The event will be live-streamed right after its shareholders meet at 1:30 pm on the same day.
On Wednesday, Elon Musk claimed on Twitter that the announcements for Tesla Battery Day will be “insane”. The tweet was related to an article by CleanTechnica on the company’s new battery cell. Given all the excitement, it’s safe to assume that the big news is about Tesla’s new battery technology.
Elon Musk Responds To Rumors About New Battery Technology
Twitter is buzzing with all kinds of information about this battery technology, which is crucial to the functioning of an electric vehicle.
The self-driving vehicles produced by Elon Musk’s Tesla have been facing one roadblock: the current battery technology. However, this could change if the company delivers better and improved cell tech. Several drivers could potentially switch over to Tesla electric cars.
Improved battery technology could influence the speed and the distance range of the car. Currently, Tesla users are facing a “range anxiety” as the high-speed of the electric car is limited due to its charging capacity.
The image of the new battery was first shared on the internet by Electrek. It claims that the picture is of a new battery technology that has been produced by Tesla for its Roadrunner project. As per Electrek, the new battery will be twice bigger in diameter than the current battery. The current battery, “2170”, is 21 millimeters x 70. And, it is used in Tesla’s Model Y and 3 vehicles.
This means that since the capacity of the battery has increased, the price of the electric cars could significantly reduce due to lesser packaging required. If this is the case, it’s a game-changer for Elon Musk and his company.
Tesla’s New Battery: A Game-Changer?
Jordan Geiger, an expert on batteries, tweeted about the rumor and said that it could change the level of manufacturing and performance for Tesla. Rumors have cropped up that Tesla’s new battery would be 54 x 98 millimeters.
Geiger further revealed that Tesla engineers have been working in testing and improving tiny details of their battery.
As per experts, Tesla’s new battery could achieve 300 watts-hour, in opposition to its current 259 watt-hours. Experts have noted that a denser battery might help new electric vehicles, such as an electric jet.
Responding to several tweets about Tesla’s new battery technology, Elon Musk said that many are catching the right threads. However, he denied comments that said he was revealing the big surprises even before the Tesla Battery Day. Which means that the company has more than the leaked battery news up its sleeve.
Speculations are extremely high right now. Let’s just wait for the 22nd September event to see what Elon Musk’s Tesla actually has to offer.
