A six-time All-Star forward, Blake Griffin declared his retirement from the NBA. In the 2009 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Clippers from Oklahoma chose Blake Griffin first overall. He suffered a broken patella in the preseason, which made his stay in Los Angeles less than ideal. After returning the next season, Griffin was named the 2010–11 Rookie of the Year and was selected to his first of five consecutive All-Star games. That season, he also triumphed in the Slam Dunk Contest after crashing into a parked automobile.

With the arrival of point guard Chris Paul, the Clippers truly took off in the 2011–12 season, and his spectacular moments became their signature play.

Blake Griffin Gets Unexpectedly Transferred To Detroit Pistons

The Clippers were known as Lob City after acquiring Paul and his love of alley-oop passes to center DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. This led to the greatest period of success in the team’s history. Tyronn Lue, the current coach of the Clippers, who was an assistant on the staff early in Griffin’s Los Angeles tenure, stated, “Blake was a big part of the turnaround here.” “Athletically, Blake was among the most dynamic players we’ve seen in this league in a very long time. His ability to pass is one thing for which he is not given credit. His career was excellent.”

The Clippers were unable to make it to the playoffs, and amid the 2018 season, just months after agreeing to a five-year, $171 million contract extension, Griffin was unexpectedly transferred to the Detroit Pistons.
