Throughout the years, a few unreleased Apple Watch bands have been spotted outside Apple’s product lineup, but this particular one stands out as a favorite. With the Apple Watch’s 10th anniversary approaching later this month, it seems that Apple has designed a unique edition band to commemorate the occasion.
We have several images highlighting this band, but the chance of purchasing it is extremely low.
Reader Mike, a DMN enthusiast who also manages a Discord community for Apple Watch band collectors, sent me a collection of pictures showcasing this unreleased anniversary band.
This anniversary band showcases a speckled pattern, reminiscent of the 2023 Pride Edition Sport Band and certain new Nike bands. However, the unique speckles symbolize the seasonal colors of Apple Watch bands that have been released over the years. Engraved on the back, it reads: “2014-2024: Ten Years of Apple Watch,” with a “10” encircled in the center. It comes with a striking black pin.
The actual count of these Apple Watch bands produced remains uncertain. To date, only four units have surfaced in the public domain. Two of these were auctioned on eBay last October and remained sealed in the special packaging typically used by Apple for sending samples to its Color Evaluation Team in Cupertino.
It is probable that Apple executed a limited manufacturing run, only to decide against moving forward with wider distribution. While Apple has previously gifted employees with exclusive limited-edition bands, it appears that this anniversary band never progressed beyond the evaluation phase.
The chances of this Apple Watch band being released to the public are extremely slim. The Apple Watch marks its 10th anniversary later this month, initially launched on April 24, 2015. It was announced during a special event hosted by Apple on September 9, 2014, which is reflected in the band’s “2014-2024” engraving. There is additional speculation that Apple plans to introduce a special Activity Challenge to commemorate the anniversary of the Apple Watch.
