At this year’s academy awards, The Woman King surprisingly did not even managed to get any nominations at the Academy awards. Even though the movie has been critically acclaimed and grabbed many awards like the BAFTA, Critics choice and Screen Actors Guild Awards, missing on the Oscars is hard to get over from for the director. Dina Prince-Bythewood, the director of the film says that her movie deserved a lot more.

While talking with the media outlet the PEOPLE, Dina Prince-Bythewood talked about her thinking upon her film not even getting nominated in the Academy awards. At the pre-Oscar dinner party at Waldorf Astoria, Dina said that it hurts to see her movie not getting any nominations even after capturing awards like the best director or best actress in different ceremonies such as the BAFTAs, Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild.

The director said that she will never get over this as according to her this brings a much bigger issue of the industry to light. She added that her cast and crew are not going to put their feet away after this setback and they are ready to do something special together.

The Woman King Director Is Disappointed To Not Get Any Nominations:

This is not the first time for The Woman King director to speak up about these award shows. Back in February talked with reporters of The Hollywood media outlet when she said that this award season is a eye-opener for her.

The Woman King director has directed movies like Love and Basketball, and The Old Guard. She shared that she got many texts from the insiders of the business who were furious about the nominations at the Academy Awards.
