Denis Villeneuve is making a comeback again. After hits like Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival, he is planning on doing a Dune remake. As per reports, he has already bagged a couple of big names in the industry. Timothee Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Oscar Isaac are just a few of them. 

As per sources, the filmmaker is deciding to release the movie on the first of October next year.

Paul Atreides, the antihero will be palpated by Timothee Chalamet. Duke, Paul’s dad will be played by Oscar Isaac. Rebecca Ferguson Will Play Paul’s Mother. Zendaya will be playing Paul’s lady love, Chani. Furthermore, Jason Mamoa and Josh Brolin will play the warrior/trainer characters, Duncan and Gurney. 

Other actors involved in the project are Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgard, and Sharon Duncan Brewster. 

What Is The Dune Remake About?

The original movie was based on a book by Frank Herbert. The first version was directed by David Lynch in 1984. It received mixed reactions from audiences and critics. With the Dune remake, many believe Denis Villeneuve’s take will be quite different from the first version. 

The story revolves around Duke, who has been given a promotion to look after Arrakis, the desert planet. After this, young Paul’s life turns upside down. 

A powerful substance, Spice/Melange, is found only in Arrakis. It enables users to prolong their life and control human minds. Using this drug, they can also wrap space and travel much faster through intergalactic spaces. 

There’s also a rhino-looking villain in the movie. All things considered, Denis Villeneuve’s twists and turns with the Dune remake is sure to give us a ride of our lifetime. 

Dune Remake Trailer

The trailer was released on 9th September. It showed Timothee Chalamet’s character learning how to fight. Glimpses of Arrakis and it’s inhabitants is also shown. The trailer looks dark, gritty, and epic to the core. 

The first book in the Dune series goes back to 1965. 

Fans are expecting major battle aces along with Paul’s heroic journey. 

How Will Denis Villeneuve’s Version Be Different From David Lynch’s?

Sources report that Denis Villeneuve is looking for a Dune remake, and not to revamp David Lynch’s version from 1984. 

It has also been said that this Dune remake will have many close connections with the book. The movie’s rights belong to Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros will distribute it, and Denis Villeneuve will direct the movie. Moreover, the language creator from Game of Thrones, David Peterson will be creating languages for the Dune remake. 

As per reports, Denis Villeneuve is planning on making two movies out of the Dune remake.
