Foodnoms is a robust nutrition tracking application that I have previously covered. It’s built to be quick and user-friendly, featuring a design that is fully optimized for Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
This week, Foodnoms is set to launch a significant update that includes a completely redesigned Shortcuts integration.
The latest iteration of Foodnoms introduces 44 new Shortcuts actions spanning eight categories. These actions encompass functionalities like logging your meals, tracking and adjusting your goals, meal planning, and more.
In a blog post detailing the update, developer Ryan Ashcraft mentioned that the intention is to “create an unparalleled automation experience that renders nutrition tracking more accessible and adaptable than ever.”
Foodnoms has always been committed to making nutrition tracking quicker, smarter, and more intuitive. Today, I am excited to unveil our most ambitious update to the Shortcuts integration—reconstructed from the ground up to fully leverage Apple’s latest platforms.
We’ve dedicated several months to perfecting this update, meticulously refining the details and expanding the possibilities offered by current APIs. Our aim was to develop an unparalleled automation experience that makes nutrition tracking even more accessible and flexible. We are thrilled to present it to you today.
Moreover, this update to Foodnoms includes nine new App Shortcuts that can be accessed through the Shortcuts app, Spotlight, and Siri:
- Open Scanner
- Open Foodnoms AI
- Quick Entry
- Search
- Open Foodnoms with sub-options for Food Log, Library, Goals, and Settings
- Log with options for Food, Recipe, Meal, Favorite, and Drink
- Check Goal Progress with a dynamic list of all your active goals
- Log Favorites with a dynamic list of your favorites
- Copy Meal From Yesterday with a dynamic list of your meal types
Foodnoms has also collaborated with Matthew Cassinelli, a renowned Shortcuts expert, to craft seven pre-built Shortcuts specifically for Foodnoms users. These can be viewed on the Foodnoms website.
Ultimately, as Ryan mentions, this update ensures that Foodnoms is “ready for the future of Apple Intelligence.”
By utilizing the latest Apple-provided APIs including App Intents, App Entities, App Shortcuts, Transferable, and CoreSpotlight—Foodnoms is prepared to integrate with Apple Intelligence features as they are released. Though Apple’s current offerings to third-party developers are limited, you can still experience Foodnoms’ Siri integration now. Just try saying:
- “Search in Foodnoms”
- “Check my Foodnoms Sodium goal”
- “Open Foodnoms AI”
- “Open Foodnoms barcode scanner”
