ATLANTA (AP) — It appears that 2025 will not see the legalization of sports betting in Georgia. Attempts to present a state constitutional amendment to voters fell short on Thursday, as neither the proposed amendment nor the accompanying bill reached a vote in the state legislature. In contrast, voters in Missouri narrowly passed a referendum for sports betting in 2024, marking it as the 39th state to authorize this activity. However, like Georgia, legalization encounters obstacles in the remaining 10 states that prohibit sports gambling. Although the Georgia proposals could potentially be reintroduced in the final month of the legislative session, the chances of this happening have significantly decreased.
