Continuing its “Best Phones Forever” series, Google playfully points out how many features in iOS 26 seem “inspired” by the Pixel, while also hinting at the upcoming Pixel 10.
The “Best Phones Forever” series has been running for some time now, with Google highlighting the co-existence of the iPhone and Pixel, while occasionally taking light jabs at the iPhone. The latest episode, “Responding to the Rumors,” humorously addressed several iPhone features that were first introduced by Pixel. “Just a coincidence,” it joked.
This episode is now receiving a sequel post-WWDC.
In “Responding to MORE Rumors,” iPhone and Pixel discuss the fresh iOS 26 features that may feel quite familiar to Pixel users. Features such as live text translation, Hold Assist, and Call screening are mentioned. “What are the odds?” quips iPhone. These updates will become available to users when iOS 26 rolls out later this year.
The light-hearted ad concludes with iPhone asking, “What’s in store for Pixel 10?” leaving Pixel momentarily speechless.
While all in jest, it provides a playful way for Google to assert, “We did it first,” while also suggesting that the Pixel 10 may bring forth some innovative ideas. Rumors indicate new features, such as a recently leaked “Magic Cue.” To Google’s credit, this is a much more subtle approach compared to what Samsung has resorted to.
Interestingly, Google has also started using this ad format in movie theaters, presenting a short conversation between iPhone and Pixel before reminding viewers to silence their phones prior to the film. This is a fresh initiative, coinciding beautifully with the blockbuster season, showcasing titles like the live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake, Superman, and Fantastic Four: First Steps hitting screens next month.
