Howard Stern is “furious” at how the US media covered the death of British monarch Queen Elizabeth on Friday — saying the news dominated every channel.

“I was furious because I had no idea she died,” he said. “I never watch a news show, I don’t read newspapers. I thought maybe something had happened with my family.”

The 61-year-old — who just inked a new contract to stay on Sirius XM Radio through the end of his current five-year deal — said he finally found out that it was Queen Elizabeth who died when he tuned into CNN and saw former President Bill Clinton commenting on her legacy.

In a video posted to his Instagram account, the 63-year-old radio host said he was “so annoyed” at how much coverage was given to the 93-year-old queen who passed away at 9:30pm local time after suffering from health issues for days.

Howard Stern told his followers: “I can’t believe every news station in America has 24/7 coverage of this … first of all, she’s dead already! Are you kidding me? You’re going to do this for 24 hours? It’s like a funeral or something.

What are you going to do — play clips from her life and play them over and over again with somber music playing in the background?

He continued: “You know what? If I were an American I would get annoyed too because there are other things happening in America right now besides someone dying who had been there before us.

And just think about it: She didn’t do anything for us lately anyway! Nothing but picking out outfits and eating lunch with old people (and having) tea parties once upon a time when she was younger than most Americans are today!” Howard Stern, the radio host and comedian, took to Twitter on Monday to slam U.S. media coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

“I’m just sick about it,” Stern told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday morning. “The fact that I didn’t know what was going on in my own country.”
