iPhone 17 Pro Cases Reveal the Impressive Size of the New Camera Bar

Sonny Dickson has revealed a real-world image of two transparent cases allegedly designed for the iPhone 17 Pro models expected this fall. Anticipation surrounds the expansion of the rear camera bump, with these cases illustrating just how substantial the camera bar will be.

Apple is rumored to implement this camera bar design—reminiscent of Google’s Pixel phones—across three models in September: the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the speculated slimmer iPhone 17 Air.

For the Pro variants, social media user @mia_kacurage speculated that the nearly edge-to-edge camera bar is necessary to fit a more advanced telephoto camera.

Their analysis and hypothesis indicate that repositioning the larger telephoto lens and the LiDAR sensor is essential to integrate a 48 megapixel 10x optical zoom camera.

Only time will tell, with the iPhone 17 Pro tear downs this fall shedding light on whether this justifies the expected decision to include this oversized camera bar.

For now, these supposed iPhone 17 Pro cases provided by @sonnydickson offer plenty of speculation and significantly less case coverage. If the camera bump were any more substantial, it would encroach upon MagSafe territory.

If this trend continues, users may soon need to purchase a case specifically for their case, as nearly a third of the rear iPhone surface area remains unprotected.
