Is Zoom Having Issues? Users Experience Problems with the Video Conferencing App.

Zoom, the widely used video communication platform, experienced service disruptions affecting tens of thousands of users on Wednesday, as reported by website monitoring service Downdetector.

Around 3:00 p.m. EST Wednesday, approximately 68,000 users indicated they were encountering issues with the videoconferencing application. A majority of these users faced challenges with the web version, while others reported difficulties with the mobile app, according to Downdetector.

By 5 p.m. EST, Zoom announced on social media that the service had been fully restored.

“The service has been restored following the earlier outage, and we genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company stated.

User complaints indicated that the outage was extensive throughout the U.S.

This incident occurred shortly after a different tech outage earlier in the day, where thousands of Spotify users reported difficulties accessing their streaming accounts.

Zoom has yet to respond to CBS MoneyWatch’s inquiry for comment.

The company states that around 300 million users join Zoom meetings on a daily basis. Its popularity surged during the pandemic when in-person meetings were halted. Although this led to a revenue spike during that time, the company’s growth rate has since plateaued.
