New information regarding the successor to the Vision Pro is surfacing, revealing crucial insights into Apple’s vision for a lighter, innovative visionOS device potentially named the Apple Vision Air.
Update 4/17: Kosutami has recently showcased the midnight black charging connector designed for the Vision Air.
Apple Vision Air could introduce significant visual upgrades
Today, leaker Kosutami shared the following update on X:
Our upcoming addition to the Vision series is remarkably slender, utilizing titanium to minimize weight, including in the connectors and battery, all presented in a black color reminiscent of the iPhone 5, which resembles a dark graphite blue. Note: this may not be named ‘Pro,’ but you can indeed consider it an ‘Air’ model.
Several important details emerge from this:
- Kosutami highlights the device’s “thin” profile, indicating a noteworthy hardware redesign.
- Titanium will be used not just for the headset, but also for connectors and the battery.
- The color will feature a graphite black/blue hue.
- Finally, there’s the suggestion of the ‘Air’ branding.
In a follow-up, it was clarified that while the Vision Air will mostly utilize aluminum for its outer chassis in a “midnight black-like finish,” titanium will significantly assist in reducing the weight of internal components.
Additionally, Kosutami provided a preview of the new connector for the Vision Air, noting that it is thicker than the standard Lightning port.
These revelations come after Mark Gurman’s report over the weekend regarding Apple’s development of two new Vision headsets: one aimed at being lighter and more affordable, while the other is designed to connect with a Mac.
DMN’s Perspective
I’m thrilled to see Apple’s continuous commitment to advancing the Vision lineup, and the speculation surrounding the potential Apple Vision Air is particularly exciting.
If Apple can produce a visionOS headset that is notably lighter, slimmer, and more affordable, while also available in an attractive shade of black, it would surely be a remarkable next-gen offering. Here’s hoping the device hits the market in the next year or so.
