Leaker Confirms Major Display Changes for the iPhone 18 Pro

If you were anticipating a change in physical screen sizes for Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro models, it’s time to adjust your expectations. However, the 2026 lineup is set to introduce notable changes to the front design of the iPhone. Here’s what to expect.

A recent leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo reveals that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will maintain the same display sizes as the current iPhone 16 Pro series: approximately 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively.

This aligns with what we also anticipate for this year’s iPhone 17 Pro models, indicating that Apple may be sticking with the same display dimensions for three consecutive generations.

While the sizes may remain unchanged, two key screen-related innovations are reportedly confirmed for the iPhone 18 Pro series:

First: Under-Display Face ID

This anticipated shift has been speculated for years, with various sources (including display analyst Ross Young and a comprehensive report from The Information) pointing to 2026 as the year Apple will implement this change. Today’s leak further supports this idea.

This means, unless Apple decides to keep the pill-shaped Dynamic Island for aesthetic reasons, this would signify the first instance without a visible hardware area for Face ID on the display. Of course, Apple may still opt to reveal the Dynamic Island UI when necessary but allow it to disappear otherwise.

Second: HIAA (Hole-in-Active-Area)

Apple is also set to minimize the visible display cutout to a single pinhole for the front-facing camera, utilizing HIAA, or hole-in-active-area, technology.

Additionally, an intriguing detail from The Information‘s earlier reports indicates that the camera hole could be relocated to the top-left corner of the display (similar to many Android smartphones), making this the first iPhone to feature an asymmetric front camera placement.

Are you excited about the possibility of an iPhone without a permanent Dynamic Island cutout? What are your thoughts on Apple potentially relocating the front camera to the top-left corner of the screen? Share your opinions in the comments.
