On Wednesday, Spotify faced technical difficulties, with numerous users reporting challenges accessing the platform.

A spokesperson informed CBS MoneyWatch, “Spotify encountered an outage starting around 6:20 am EDT. By 11:45 am EDT, the service was back to normal. For further updates, please check the @SpotifyStatus channel on X.”

According to Downdetector.com, which monitors app outages in real time, over 48,000 users reported issues with Spotify on Wednesday morning. The tech issue primarily impacted Spotify’s app and its audio streaming services, affecting users in the U.S. and parts of Europe, as reported by the BBC.

Earlier, Spotify updated its social media, stating that they were working to resolve the issue, denying that the outage was due to hacking. By midday, they announced that the situation was fixed.

The Spotify Status account posted, “All clear – thanks for your patience.”

While efforts were underway to restore the app, disgruntled users took to social media to express their frustrations. “Messing with my morning, man!!,” one user lamented. Many users mentioned a diverse range of issues, with some unable to listen to music at all, while others experienced glitches during playback.

Spotify, which launched in 2008, boasts over 675 million users.
