Stimulus Check

If you missed out on the $1,200 per adult and $500 per child stimulus payments that the federal government sent to taxpayers this year. That may have been because of confusion over getting the money or just bad timing—it’s not like anyone gets paid that much in a lump sum every single month. However, there is another opportunity for Americans to cash in on some free government money:

The IRS will automatically send you payments for each child under 17 in your household if you meet certain criteria. If these payments sound familiar to you but haven’t arrived yet (or are still waiting at home), don’t worry! There’s still time left before the deadline day so that even those who missed out on their first check can collect both this year’s payments together when they arrive by mail.

Stimulus Check: Last Bits Up For Grabs

You only have until Nov. 21 to register for the next stimulus check if you aren’t already eligible for one.

The second round of stimulus check payments will be made soon and is worth up to $1,600 per adult and $940 per child. The exact amount depends on your income level and whether or not you’re married or divorced—and this time around, it could be even more than last year because of changes made by Congress earlier this year that raised taxes on high earners such as those making over $200,000 a year (or $250K if they’re married).

The first stimulus check was worth up to $1,200 per adult and $500 per child (but only if they were under 17 at the end of 2021), but now it’s been raised even higher because of inflation since then: Under current law it should be worth roughly 8% more than last year’s check based on CPI growth since then—and another 2% increase from inflation-based increases in wages and salaries during 2019 according to data just released by the Bureau Of Labor Statistics (BLS).
