Stimulus Check

Stimulus checks that are to be provided in July,  have been proven a false claim over a post on a social media website. A Facebook post that was made by a user called Chaz Thompson on the 15th of July, claims that there has been new legislation which was passed by the United States Congress. According to the claim, this legislation dictates a payment of $2500 is to be paid to eligible Americans through stimulus checks by the month’s end.

The said post was complete with an external link and a number of instructions that enabled tracking and receiving the fresh round of stimulus checks. However, once the link is clicked on, it sent the viewers onto a page that showed a picture of an ape holding out its middle finger.

Stimulus Checks Fourth Round: Truth Or Sham?

Stimulus Checks are being sought for by several Americans because of their highly accumulated debt and rising unemployment. This is why as soon as the posts came out, there were several shares and impressions on it. It is not the only post making rounds over social media, and there is another post that was made by Xavier Alexander. Xavier in his post, claims that the lawmakers have already passed their judgment on a fresh round of checks. However, both the posts have been labeled as fake information by Facebook.

Nevertheless, a petition on Change.org has accumulated over 2,657,393 signatures. The petition for monthly checks of $2000 had a signature collecting goal of 3 million signatures. It is nearly complete and may have fruitful results regarding stimulus checks.

The government has not yet announced a plan for the fourth round of checks. Although there was consistent support given to payments in another round, it is unlikely for the government to roll out more stimulus checks since the economy in the US is still recovering from the long-lasting effects of the coronavirus.
