Tapestry’s Latest Feature Addresses the Frustration of Managing Multiple Social Apps

Earlier this year, The Iconfactory introduced a new app called Tapestry that consolidates social feeds into a single timeline, featuring platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon. The newest update includes a solution for a common annoyance in social media: duplicate posts, through a feature known as Crosstalk.

Crosstalk eliminates duplicate posts from your Tapestry timeline across Bluesky, Mastodon, and more

The latest Tapestry version 1.1 is now available on the App Store for both iPhone and iPad.

This update introduces a plethora of new features, but there’s one that particularly caught my attention.

This noteworthy feature is called Crosstalk.

According to The Iconfactory:

The new Crosstalk feature in Tapestry automatically detects and minimizes similar posts from various feeds, ensuring your timeline remains free of duplicate content. The app can recognize repeated text and marks it, preventing you from spending time re-reading posts you’ve already glanced through as you browse your timeline.

This is especially useful for those who follow the same individual across multiple platforms like Bluesky, Mastodon, and Micro.blog, reducing the likelihood of encountering the same content repeatedly.

Having the same accounts followed across different services—and consequently experiencing post duplication—has been one of my main frustrations with contemporary social media.

However, Tapestry addresses this issue by allowing you to entirely eliminate duplicate posts.

If you prefer a less drastic approach, you can choose to “muffle” the posts instead, which keeps them visible in the timeline but minimizes them for easier navigation.

Personally, I appreciate the concept of completely erasing duplicates. It seems that Tapestry has cleverly designed this feature, allowing even posts with slight variations (due to the specific requirements of each service) to be recognized as duplicates.
