According to leakster Kosutami, Apple is expected to unveil the new AirTag 2 upgrade in May or June, likely before the WWDC announcement. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has also indicated that the launch is anticipated ‘around the middle of [this] year.’

Additionally, a new wireless chip could enhance location precision in less populated areas.
In the past, there have been incidents involving the misuse of AirTags for stalking, with some users even modifying their devices to disable the built-in speaker, which reduced the awareness of the presence of a nearby AirTag. Apple aims to address these concerns with the next version of AirTag.
