The opportunity to claim a share of a $3.25 million settlement from a 2021 data breach at USAA is closing soon.
The personal information of approximately 22,600 individuals was compromised in the breach affecting the financial services firm that assists military members, veterans, and their families. The lawsuit accused USAA of failing to adequately protect the data, a claim the company has contested.
Customers of USAA whose personal details were accessed, stolen, or otherwise compromised during the incident may be eligible to receive a portion of the settlement. The precise amount each claimant might obtain remains uncertain.
Eligible claimants should have received notifications via email or postal mail from USAA following the settlement agreement reached in December 2024. These notifications included specific ID numbers for your reference—namely a claimant ID code and a confirmation code.
Individuals affected by the breach who do not submit a claim may forfeit their right to receive any compensation.
The deadline to submit a claim is April 7 at midnight. You can file a claim online or send a form to Angeion Group LLC, 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Payments will be distributed after the final hearing on May 21.
