Which Vehicles Are Compatible with Apple Wallet Car Keys?

During WWDC 2020, Apple introduced a cutting-edge car key feature that allows users to leverage the Wallet app on their iPhone or Apple Watch to operate their vehicles. Although the uptake of this functionality has been gradual, you can find the complete list of compatible cars supporting Apple car key integration below.

What is Apple car key?

This functionality enables users to add their vehicle’s key to the Wallet app, granting them the ability to lock, unlock, and start their vehicle right from the app. While the specific implementations can differ between manufacturers, there are several ways to utilize Apple’s car key feature:

  • Passive entry: Approach your vehicle with your device, and it unlocks; start your car while inside, and as you walk away with your device, it locks.
  • Proximity: Lock, unlock, and start your vehicle by holding your device near the door handle or key reader.
  • Remote access: Use your device for remote locking and unlocking of your car, along with additional features.

The car key feature also supports Express Mode. This allows you to use your car key without needing to unlock your device or authenticate through Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Furthermore, the Wallet app enables sharing your car key via Messages, Mail, and AirDrop.
