Colin Kaepernick has again come to the forefront on social media, after the halftime commercials of Super Bowl LV brought out its initiatives on social justice. Interestingly, most of the viewers watching the play had major issues about the initiative- catapulting Kaepernick back to prominence.

Colin Kaepernick’s Protest Has Seen The Light Of Primetime- But Where Is He?

The Inspire Change commercial that the NFL brought out showcased several footage of the racial injustice protest, along with the Hall of Fame declaration of LaDanian Tomlinson. The legend had spoken about how football was one of the many ways to bring people from different walks of life together. The LV commercial also displayed quite a few players putting on jerseys which had the victim names. Finally, the commercial ended with the football players locking arms to show their solidarity to the protests, while kneeling by the sidelines.

But what seemed to be curiously missing from the entire ad was the presence of Colin Kaepernick- who started the process all the way back in 2016. He was ostracized for a whole year, as he protested during the anthem in order to rally against police brutality and social injustice. While the NFL commercial maintained the community was pledging almost $250 million that would do away with racism.

As it went by, people on Twitter were less than pleased at Colin Kaepernick’s absence.

In a sudden change of heart, Roger Goodell, the current Commissioner of NFL expressed his gratitude towards the former quarterback for the precedent he had set. He also spoke about how he should have paid heed to Colin Kaepernick when the latter had tried to raise awareness about racial prejudice.
