Millions of families became accustomed to counting on the pandemic-era scheme that allowed them to get monthly child tax credit Stimulus Checks of up to $300 per kid.

Currently, a new Republican Senate plan would reinstate the parents’ monthly payments, but with additional conditions. Republican Senators Mitt Romney of Utah, Richard Burr of North Carolina, and Steve Daines of Montana came up with the idea, known as the Family Security Act 2.0, and they term it a “pro-family, pro-life, and pro-marriage strategy.”

Stimulus Check CTC Extension Will Help Support The Children

The enhanced child tax credit, which allowed families to receive payments on a monthly basis for the first time, expired, prompting the idea. For each kid under the age of six, that was $300 per month; for those between the ages of six and seventeen, it was $250 per month. Up to three children may be claimed as beneficiaries by parents.

The aforementioned income requirements must be satisfied in order to qualify for the maximum $250 Stimulus Check per child:

married but filing separately if you are single: less than $100,000

$160,000 or less for the head of household

$200,000 or less for married couples filing jointly

To submit an application, go to portal.ct.gov/DRS and choose the “2022 CT Child Tax Rebate Stimulus Check” icon.

On July 31, 2022, the Stimulus Check application period will end, and payments will be made in August. Couples who are divorced, separated, or who are not married each year choose which parent will declare the kid as a dependant. However, both parents can be eligible for the child tax credit this year if they rotate who claims each year.

If your co-parent intends to claim the entire credit on their tax return and you were given advance payments in 2021 because you claimed your kid as a dependant in 2020, you could be required to repay those funds.
