The Co-Founder Of Yuga Labs Has Taken A Leave Of Absence

Following a diagnosis of congestive heart failure, nonfungible token (NFT) entrepreneur Wylie Aronow of Yuga Labs—the group behind Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks—will be taking a leave of absence from the workplace to prioritize his health.

Aronow explained the difficult decision to leave in a tweet on January 28 to his 144,900 followers, adding that the diagnosis of heart failure came after suffering a variety of symptoms over the previous few months. increased to the point where he was forced to prioritize other tasks over his work. The co-founder of Yuga Labs did not specify a timeframe for when he hoped to recuperate and resume his responsibilities.

Aranow did, however, affirm that he will continue to serve as a board member and a strategic advisor. Aranow has had other medical diagnoses that have prevented him from working. In his twenties, Aranow said he struggled with a chronic disease that prevented him from advancing in his job.

Aronow also emphasized his eagerness to collaborate with the company’s new CEO, Daniel Alegre, the former Activision Blizzard president, and COO. Aronow recently said on November 8, 2022, that he will put forth a new model for NFT creator royalties, while he gave no further details on what he would be doing in that capacity.
