The launch of the Cosmos Hub on March 14, 2019 followed a $16 million ICO in 2017 and an Interchain Foundation contribution of $9 million in December last year, which Kwon said would be used to help support ongoing development as well as other projects building on Cosmos’ technology.

The Cosmos Hub’s first-ever community-proposed protocol upgrade has been postponed following a revision of the initial white paper. The vote was originally scheduled to be held recently but it has been pushed back after developers discovered issues with their proposal and decided to make changes to ensure that they were ready for community voting:

“We want this process to be as transparent as possible, so we didn’t want to rush into voting without being able to explain all of our plans clearly in advance,” explained Corey Miller, one of the authors behind the new proposal and an Ethereum Foundation developer who works on infrastructure projects like Casper CBC or Sharding 2.0 at ConsenSys.”

Cosmos Hub Detains Vote

The vote delay comes amid mounting reports that China is planning to cancel all blockchain-related events and conferences across China during this week’s G20 summit in Japan.

Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. A cryptocurrency is difficult to counterfeit because of this security feature. A defining feature of a cryptocurrency, and arguably its most endearing allure, is its organic nature; it is not issued by any central authority, rendering it theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation. The first cryptocurrency to capture the public imagination was Bitcoin, which was launched in 2009 by an individual or group known under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Since then, numerous other cryptocurrencies have been created. These are frequently called altcoins, as a blend of alternative coin.
