Hackers are still trying to make fame fake ethereum websites which has Web-3 to catch the browser-based wallets of unsuspecting victims. With the ETHDenver becoming the latest victim of the process, things are incredibly serious right now.

A fake website of the famous Ether Denver has been the latest target of the hackers who has stolen Ether worth of 300K dollars. The conference has seen the website getting cloned by hackers to trick the users to connect their metamask wallets to the Fake Ethereum website. Blockfence who identified this fraud website at first said that it got access to more than 2.8K wallets and they have already stolen 300k worth of crypto coin in the last six months.

ETHDenver has revealed a notice to the followers on twitter to warn them about this malicious website. Users were encouraged to join their MetaMask wallets using the standard “connect wallet” button, according to Omri Lahav, CEO of Blockfence, who spoke to Cointelegraph. The website requests a transaction, which, if accepted, executes the malicious code and takes the users’ money.

Fake Ethereum Website Linked To Notorious Wallets:

The research conducted by the Blockfence team revealed that this incident while tracking different trends of the industry. Lahav, the CEO of the organization said that this scam has already stolen 177 stablecoin since starting in the midway last year.

Sometimes hackers have gone too far where they even paid google ads to promote the URL of their Fake Ethereum website. The fake ethereum website was second on the search engine of Google and it was placed above the ETH Denver website.

The bitcoin industry is nevertheless plagued by frauds and hacks, as Cointelegraph recently reported. Cryptocurrency worth about $2.8 billion was stolen in 2022 as a result of many hacks and vulnerabilities.
