The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program will be offering energy payments to eligible residents that would go toward their energy bills. The direct payments would be ranging from $250 to $600, depending entirely on the income level, size of the household, and whether there was a vulnerable member in the household or not. The benefits are being paid directly to the utility company, or the fuel supplier. Households that are being heated with deliverable fuels like propane or oil could be considered eligible for additional fuel deliveries. Additionally, residents whose bills also include rent will be receiving their payments directly.

Energy Payment Applications Have A Deadline Of 31st May

All the energy payment applications for the most recent round will be closed on 31st May and should be made online for people to refer to. For those wondering, households include every single person who resides in the house. This incorporates spouses, children, roommates, grandparents, etc. Also, one would be eligible for assistance if they are a resident of Connecticut, have a Social Security Number, fall under 60% of the median income of the state, or receive one of several benefits. These benefits will include programs like the Temporary Family Assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Supplemental Security Income, and others.

Residents applying for the energy payments will be able to apply online, by email, by phone, by mail, or even in person at their local Community Action Agency. To apply online, the applications will be open until the 31st of May. Those who are considering applying by phone can call their local CAA and request assistance over the phone.
