The petition on demanding stimulus checks every month until the end of the pandemic has continued gaining momentum. In recent days, the moment was sped up by warnings from health experts regarding the Delta variant.

Delta Variant Fears Renew Spark For Fourth Stimulus Check

Health experts have warned that this variant is more virulent than the original. As a result, anyone who is still unvaccinated will face a potentially serious threat.

Stephanie Bonin, a restaurant owner in Denver, had stated the petition in 2020. The petition asks the United States Senate and the Representative to pass a bill providing families with stimulus checks worth $1000 for kids, and $2000 stimulus checks for adults immediately. After that, it asks for monthly amounts for as long as the crisis lasts.

So far, over 2,558,820 signatures have been collected on the petition. In the previous week, it gained nearly 85,000 new supporters. The goal of the petition is 3 million. If it is reached the petition will be among the highest signed ones on the website. Bonin is assured that it is only a matter of time until the milestone is reached. At the current pace, it will take till August’s end.

Bonin said that the reason most common among signatories is the feeling of uncertainty. She points out that the uncertain times have not ended yet. So people tend to slip into living out of fear during such times.

Bonin was talking about the variant called Delta. On Saturday, there were more than 20,000 new reported daily infections for the fourth consecutive day. This has not happened since May. Dr. Fauci issued a warning that this variant can result in increasing cases in regions where the vaccination rates are low.
