Barbie Ferreira, who plays the high school student Kat Hernandez on the hit HBO show “Euphoria,” has announced that she is leaving the series ahead of its third season. The news comes just weeks after a second season of the series premiered to rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

She’s best known for her role as a social media influencer in “Euphoria,” which premiered its second season on Sunday night.

Ferreira found fame with a bang when director Sam Levinson cast her as his lead character in the first season of Euphoria. The series, which follows various teenagers through an emotional rollercoaster of problems including substance abuse and sexual assault, quickly became one of HBO’s most buzzed-about shows since Game Of Thrones debuted back in 2011.

Fans Of The Show Express Sadness On Barbie Ferreira Exit

The comedy, which Ferreira joined as a series regular alongside fellow newcomers Alexa Demie and Hunter Schafer for season 2, is about to get even bigger. The show was picked up by HBO in January, and if you’ve been watching any of the network’s original programming recently (especially shows like Game of Thrones), you’ll know that they’re not messing around when it comes to quality content.

Ferreira told the media that she left Euphoria because “I felt like I was being offered a lot of money and things that I didn’t need or want.” She added: “It wasn’t about the money; it was about something else.”

But it’s unclear if Barbie Ferreira will be starring in future installments of the hit show.

In an Instagram post, Barbie Ferreira wrote: “I am so thankful to have been a part of bringing this story to life. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity and experience of playing Maddy on Euphoria.”
