After months of speculations and even the Apple showcase not mentioning the iPhone 12, we finally have some information about it. iPhone 12 will reportedly be called the “iPhone 12 mini” and will be the first phone from Apple with the ‘mini’ moniker.

L0vetodream is an anonymous Twitter handle which leaks many relevant details about Apple tech. Recently they put up the 4 names of the iPhone 12 series. According to the account, the upcoming iPhone 12 phones will be named iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and lastly, iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple fanatics are hopeful that details about this much-speculated phone will come up by October.

What makes l0vetodream more reliable is their track record this year. While the other 3 names were expected as per other recent Apple phones trends, the mini one seems to be the surprise.

The phone sizes should be corresponding to their names. Currently, the smallest Apple iPhone is from the 11 series with 5.8 inches in its Pro version. If iPhone 12 manages to pull a 5.4 screen, it would be the smallest in the flagship segment. Ming-Chi mentioned the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will have a smaller notch in all probabilities. This would imply a significant decrease in size from the current iPhone 11 Pro and other Apple iPhones.

iPhone 12 Expectations:

The mid-sized iPhone 12 will come with 6.1 inches of display, much like iPhone 11. But the iPhone 12 series will have the boost of OLED displays. Any OLED lovers here?

The iPhone 12 series will follow the last 2 Apple generations. iPhone 12 Pro will also come with 6.1 inches. In the same series, Apple is expected to debut its smallest and largest screens. While the iPhone 12 mini takes the smallest screen, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will come with 6.7 inches of screen space covered diagonally. This will be the largest screen area in an Apple iPhone as of now.

If rumours are to be believed, all four models of the iPhone 12 series will come with the latest Apple A14 chips and will also support 5G cellular network. In the latest Apple event, the company had announced that the Watch Series 6 will not be shipped with power adapters. They cited environmental reasons, but fans believe it was a foreshadowing of the iPhone 12 packaging. In all probabilities, iPhone 12 series will not be shipped with the charger or the earbuds. This will be a first from Apple.

Had the pandemic not struck, the iPhone 12 series would have been launched in September 2020. But with supply chains and other connections disrupted, Apple plans to ship one model by October. Fans are hoping for a second media event by the middle of October to announce the iPhone 12 series. Are you excited about the smallest and largest Apple screens?
