It looks as if Charli D’Amelio, TikTok superstar is finishing 2020 in a cool fashion as she was named the Social Media Person of 2020 by Forbes Magazine. In the last year, this time, nobody could anticipate that Charli would reach this level of fortune and fame. But she has proved herself as an unstoppable force again.

Once she reached 50M followers in April on TikTok, she made a world record in the Guinness book of world records because she was the most popular and had the highest number of followers on TikTok. Since then, the number of followers has gone up over 100M, making Charli the 1st influencer to reach such a benchmark on that platform. Therefore, it should not be a surprise that Charli D’Amelio was awarded Forbes’s biggest award.

Abram Brown, Forbes, Senior Editor while detailing the awards regarding social media said that nobody can personify the aura of TikTok like Charli does.18 months ago, Charli was just an anonymous teenager in Connecticut. Today, Charli is the most popular and has the highest followers, more than 100M on TikTok, which is a threshold that only a handful of celebrities have been able to cross on any social media app. Brown talked to Jacob Pace, fellow star of TikTok about Charli’s story to fame.

Pace, who is the owner of the Flight House channel noted that D’Amelio reaching the benchmark of 100k ‘insane’.TikTok received a lot of attention and became a lot mainstream this year. Forbes and Pace’s sentiments are in agreement as Forbes named TikTok as the Most Disruptive Innovator of 2020. As the total number of users on TikTok increased from 55M in 2018 to 690M in 2020, Brown termed the social media app as the center around which the internet culture revolves. Charli D’Amelio didn’t comment on the achievement publicly yet.
