Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was expelled from two of her committees reportedly for some of her questionable social media posts before her election. Posts written by Greene have been considered as conspiratorial and incendiary. The Democratic party arranged a voting system which resulted in 23-199. As a result of the vote, Greene was taken away from her position in the Budget Committee and Education & Labor Committee.

Lawmakers Demand Befitting Punishment For Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Posts

The debate in the house raised after many members objected to her social media posts. The lawmakers not only started their argument about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s questionable acts but also demanded her befitting punishment.

Steny Hoyer, the Majority Leader, brought a poster that demonstrates the campaign advertisement by Greene. It shows Greene using assault weapons beside three representatives of the Democratic party namely Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. Three of them are known to be a part of the group “Squad”. A caption i.e “Squad’s Worst Nightmare” was written on the debated ad.

Addressing the Republican members, Hoyer stated that he wants his colleagues to have a look at the advertisement and share their opinions on it. He also told them to imagine their own faces in the image.

In this regard, the Republicans claimed that the House had no particular right to expel a member of another party without proper consent.

Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif, the House Minority Leader, stated that the decision of removing Greene has set a standard that will bring further conflict among the House members.

Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed her regret after losing her position from the committees but did not apologize for the claims against her. Greene rejected the allegations saying the campaign ad completely refers to the time before her election and they do not represent her values.
