The advent of stimulus checks might have led to a potential drug overdose problem. Let us learn more about the story in detail below.

Stimulus Check: Opioid Deaths Spiked During Pandemic

The federal government provided stimulus checks to provide financial support to the residents. The money sent was expected to cover the basic expenses of families.

However, many residents seem to have utilized the money in different ways. The number of deaths due to opioid abuse spiked drastically.

Staggering numbers have been found in the recently conducted study. It has been seen that the deaths due to opioids contributed to over ten percent of the total tally of deaths in the pandemic situation.

Stimulus Checks provided a sudden amount of lump sum money to almost all the residents. They misused the money and started taking drugs.

This has been a serious concern for the US Narcotics department. They are currently trying to curb the problem by introducing effective methods.
