Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, recently revealed that she had her ninth breast reconstruction surgery in an attempt to correct a botched breast reduction from 2018.
In an Instagram post, Palin shared an image of her recovery process, complete with a bandaged chest. In the caption, she wrote about her journey to “fix” her breasts and her battle with body dysmorphia that had dogged her for years.
“I had a breast reduction in my late teens that I’ve regretted for years,” Palin wrote. “These surgeries are no joke and definitely not a reason to celebrate; but I’m so thankful that I’m finally on the path to having a shape I feel comfortable in.”
Bristol Palin Went Through Surgery Once Again
For Palin, who has undergone several rounds of revision procedures in an effort to undo the original failed treatment, this was the eighth surgery of its sort. The plastic surgeon who did the breast reconstruction in Alabama was among the medical specialists she thanked for their assistance.
Bristol Palin has been getting counseling to address her emotional health in addition to her physical healing. She understood that enhancing her mental health was essential for her physical healing.
“The mental side of body dysmorphia and insecurity is just as important as the physical recovery,” she wrote. “I’m thankful that I’m finally at a place in my life where I can be confident and happy with who I am.”
Bristol Palin concluded her post by encouraging others to be kind to themselves, as “life is too short to be so hard on ourselves.” Her words of encouragement were met with an outpouring of support from her followers, who commended her bravery and strength.
