Sylvester Stallone praised his “brave” child Sophia, 25, for overcoming her phobia of spiders in a video commentary that he sent to his 15 million Instagram followers.

Stallone shared a video of Sophia letting a spider climb up her arm on Monday. Right before a caretaker put the spider on her body, Stallone, 76, urged his daughter off-screen, “Let us show bravery, let us go Sophia.”

Sylvester Stallone keeps encouraging Sophia as the caretaker (also off-screen) steadies her hand while calling the spider “awesome.” Stallone exclaims, “I am very proud of you, baby love,” as Sophia begs the keeper to “get him” so the beast will not creep too far up her arm.

Sylvester Stallone’s Daughter Has Arachnophobia

As the handler removes the spider from Sophia’s arm and she flees the camera, the “Rocky” actor warns the handler, “Watch her, she is going to panic.” Sister Sistine, 24, watches with disbelief. Sophia commented beneath her dad’s article, “I am really more afraid of spiders after experiencing that…

Sophia may or may not have clinical arachnophobia, but if so, she is not alone.

Arachnophobia is defined as a “severe fear of spiders” that becomes a phobia when it “takes up your thoughts, meddles with your everyday routines, and prevents you from socializing with your friends and family. The Cleveland Clinic estimates that 3 to 15% of the population suffers from this condition. The oldest of Sylvester Stallone’s three children with model Jennifer Flavin, who was his ex-wife, is Sophia. She was conceived on August 27, 1996, a year before the wedding. Sistine, 24, and Scarlet, 20, are Sophia’s younger sisters. Together with her younger sister Sistine, Sophia presently co-hosts a podcast and conducts a reading club.

Seargeoh, Stallone’s 43-year-old son from his first marriage to photographer Sasha Czack, is another child. According to Reuters, their son Sage passed away from a heart attack in 2012 at the age of 36.
