Following the impending retirement of Pat Sajak as Wheel of Fortune’s host, Whoopi Goldberg has entered the running.

Sajak announced his retirement on Monday, June 12, saying that the next 41st season will be his last. As a result, the search for a new host has begun, with Ryan Seacrest and Maggie Sajak (Pat’s daughter) being mentioned as possible candidates.

On Tuesday’s (June 13) installment of The View, when Jeopardy! presenter Ken Jennings rejoined the panel to discuss the Wheel of Fortune problem, Whoopi Goldberg made her motives apparent.

Whoopi Goldberg Has Made Her Intentions Very Clear

“Pat Sajak, another venerable game show presenter, has revealed that he would leave Wheel of Fortune at the conclusion of the next season. Jennings was questioned by Alyssa Farah Griffin. “Pat Sajak is the best at controlling inflation,” said the Jeopardy! Goat made a joke.

Jeopardy experienced its own leadership dilemma. What to do when Pat packs it in? hopefully exists someplace in Wheel’s possession. Jennings responded, and Whoopi Goldberg could be heard in the distance stating, “I want the job.”

Joy Behar informed Jennings that “Whoopi wants that position,” and Goldberg concurred, saying “I want that job. It seems like a lot of fun.

Jennings said, “Well, there you leave, we figured it out,” appearing to be on board with the plan. Behar then suggested, “Sara [Haines] and I might have been Vanna White,” taking things a step further. Each of us will go back and forth while pointing at the letters in turn.

As Jennings noted, he is acquainted with the challenges faced by a well-known game show searching for a new host. In the years after Alex Trebek’s passing in 2020, Jeopardy! undertook a thorough search for a new host. A variety of guest hosts appeared on Jeopardy! during the 2020–2021 season, with program producer Mike Richards (who also executive produced Wheel) finally taking the role.

Additionally, he lost his job as executive producer of Wheel and Jeopardy! In the end, Jennings and Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory were named the show’s permanent hosts in 2022.
