In an interview in 2018, Gemma Arterton told The Telegraph about her being a worrier and neurotic. Thus she was concerned about her ability to manage and maintain a proper balance between family and career. Later then she also says that her only motivation to work and manage her home was only seeing her mother and grandmother sad because their only job was to look after the kids and she did not want to end up sad like that.
